Prohibited Materials

Private construction recycling facilities have different bans on materials than Metro Vancouver Transfer Stations. Some items will be surcharged if found in loads and will be charged at a higher rate than if you recycled them at the appropriate facility. The following items are generally banned from most private facilities:

• Hazardous Waste
• Chemical Waste
• Oils
• Paint
• Asbestos containing products (such as drywall, insulation, floor tiles, ceiling tiles)
• Batteries
• Treated Woods
• Electronic Waste
• Food Waste (surcharges will apply)
• Tires (surcharges will apply)
• Drywall non asbestos (surcharges will apply)
• Mattresses (surcharges will apply)
